Learnings shared at the DMA North Conference in Manchester
After the fantastic DMA/IDM Annual Conference at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground last week, I’ve compiled the top ten things I took from the event. Thanks to all the great speakers for this info.
1. 82% of people go online to socialise, 75% go online to be part of a community, so your content needs to be exceptional to meet their needs
2. Always develop an Online Value Proposition before putting content into the online sphere
3. Applying behavioural segmentation to your emails will yield better results
4. Reducing your website copy by half will increase response
5. Your first email in the customer relationship tends to yield the greatest response, so it’s crucial to get it right
6. Within social media it’s all about creating great content, driving volume and visibility and building customer relationships
7. Promotional emails should feature no more than 150 words
8. Traditional channels still deliver volume but online delivers value
9. In online communications, be influenced by behaviour, don’t aim to influence behaviour
10. Customers are predicted to continue shopping around for the next five years
