Yes Agency supports West Midlands Construction UTC in its grand opening
Over the last five years, we have worked alongside West Midlands Construction UTC, from helping to develop its bid, through to supporting its Springfield campus launch at the end of March 2017. The UTC is one of 48 (and growing) UTCs across the UK from the Baker Dearing Educational Trust.
For those who are not familiar with the concept, University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are non-paying schools for 14–19 year olds that deliver innovative, high-quality education that combines technical, practical and academic learning, giving ambitious young people a head start in their careers. UTCs benefit from a university partner, and a close working relationship with employers in the region to deliver a curriculum that creates bright, work-ready students with knowledge and skills that are relevant to both their technical field of choice as well as the needs of regional businesses.
On Wednesday 28th March, a VIP opening by the Queen’s cousin, Prince Richard HRH the Duke of Gloucester, was a significant moment for all those who had contributed to the evolution of the West Midlands Construction UTC, the team at Yes Agency included.
Principal Tom Macdonald was delighted with the turnout on the day: “This grand opening is the result of years of hard work behind the scenes by everybody involved with WMCUTC. The Duke of Gloucester was really impressed with our students’ diligence and the combination of technical understanding and hands-on application of skills. All the guests who came on the day were blown away and the dedication of both students and staff really shines through.”
